Noida International Airport prepares for take-off with electrified gate operations

As Noida International Airport moves closer to inauguration, a key part of its operational setup is already in place: electrified gate infrastructure designed to support efficient, safe, and future-ready aircraft turnaround.

10 gates have been equipped with integrated ground support equipment from ITW GSE, including 2400 Power Coils, 3500 Pre-Conditioned Air units (PCA), and 3500 Air Coils — all installed directly at the contact gate.

Built for efficiency from day one

Noida International Airport is being developed by Yamuna International Airport Private Limited (YIAPL). YIAPL is a 100% subsidiary of Zurich Airport International AG established to oversee the development, construction, and operation of the greenfield Noida International Airport project. This foundation has enabled the airport to be designed with efficiency in mind from the outset.

Our objective was to equip the gates with efficient and reliable ground support equipment that supports safe operations, optimizes turnaround, and fits the airport’s long-term vision for modern, electrified infrastructure.”

With power and pre-conditioned air available directly at the aircraft, the airport is positioned to streamline turnarounds while reducing emissions and operational complexity.

Integrated solutions for smoother turnaround

The installation combines three core technologies:

  • 2400 Power Coil – stable 400 Hz power at the aircraft
  • 3500 PCA – pre-conditioned air to reduce APU usage
  • 3500 Air Coil – efficient and safe hose management

Together, these solutions enable a more predictable and efficient turnaround process, with less equipment handling on the apron.

Having ground support equipment directly available at the gate simplifies daily operations and supports a more consistent turnaround flow.”

A scalable foundation for growth

The current setup supports Phase 1 of the airport and the proposed terminal 1 building is designed to cater to a total of 10 passenger boarding bridges with traffic of 12 million passengers annually.

As development continues, Noida International Airport is envisioned to become one of Asia’s largest airports — making scalable and efficient gate infrastructure essential.

Enabling the shift to electrified operations

For ITW GSE, the project reflects a broader industry transition.

As airports electrify their operations, integrating power and air supply at the gate is key to improving efficiency and reducing infrastructure strain,” says ITW GSE.

Solutions that bring power and cooling directly to the aircraft help airports meet growing demands for efficiency, sustainability, and operational reliability.
