The 3500 PCA is much more than just a PCA. It's the centerpiece of EcoGate, a high-efficiency system of ITW GSE ground support units that work together intelligently. The 3500 hosts Intelligent Power Management (IPM), which allocates power to GPUs and PCAs dynamically, while ensuring that you never exceed your available power capacity at the gate.
Other technologies behind EcoGate and embedded in the 3500 PCA include Automated Aircraft Type Detection using VDGS or BMS solutions, stepless regulation via VFD technologies, and power sharing between other units.
Working together, these technologies not only transform existing terminal gates into truly modern systems, they also future-proof new facilities and allow airports to achieve efficiencies that can only be realized by linking gate equipment together into an integrated, intelligent system.
The European Parliament has revised the TEN-T guidelines to prioritize “increasing airport energy and operational efficiency”, and this affects airports’ usage of PCAs.
Article 33 states:
“Member States shall ensure that: (g) air transport infrastructure provides for pre-conditioned air supply to stationary aircraft.”
